One day after over 500,000 demonstrators gathered in Los Angeles to protest the Administration’s immigration policy, it is important to again revisit the policy of our own Senator Clinton.
According to Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, Mrs. Clinton, realizing there is "no better way to draw in more conservative voters", has come out "against illegal immigrants", as she told WABC Radio's John Gambling--not against illegal immigration, not for a mature dialog on how to improve the lives of all residents of the U.S., but against immigrants themselves. This position is tough to swallow considering that, "on average, immigrants pay more in taxes each year than they use in government services" and under current laws employers too often play citizen and immigrant workers off each other "to the detriment of both groups"(Drum Major Institute).
Republicans like Tancredo may laud Mrs. Clinton for being "not a dumb woman" when "taking hard-line positions that appeal to frustrated Republicans (Carl Limbacher, newsmax.com)", but if she continues taking her liberal base for granted and "trying to move to the right" as Dick Morris, a former staffer of her husband's has said, come election day, she might find out just how smart all those focus-group stances were.
